Sūra al-Baqara (Arabic: سورة البقرة) holds the distinction of being the largest sura in the Qur'an, positioned as the second sura and categorized as a Madani sura. It spans the first, second, and third juz's and derives its name, "al-Baqara" (meaning 'the cow'), from a reference to the narrative involving the cow of the Children of Israel.

The primary theme of Sūra al-Baqara revolves around the guidance of humanity, advocating for an unwavering belief in what God has revealed through His messengers, without discrimination among them. This sura is often regarded as comprehensive in content, encompassing fundamental beliefs and regulations pertaining to worship, as well as addressing social, political, and economic issues. Among its historical narratives are reflections on the experiences of the Children of Israel, the story of Abraham (a), themes concerning the resurrection, and the tale of Saul and Goliath.

Sūra al-Baqara features several noteworthy verses, including the Al-Kursi Verse, the Aman al-Rasul Verse, and the Qibla Verse, alongside the longest verse in the Qur'an (verse 282). According to a hadith attributed to the Prophet (s), Sūra al-Baqara is recognized as the most virtuous sura within the Qur'an, with the Al-Kursi Verse holding the title of its most esteemed verse.
